Driving

Having been on the road in recent weeks, I have to make a statement: SOME PEOPLE DON’T KNOW HOW TO DRIVE!

Could be me, I am sure, but I don’t think so.

Let’s start with this: A vehicle is a weapon if not used responsibly. Please, people, let’s slow down. I am not about driving under the limit. I am talking about driving the limit, perhaps even slightly above (OK, yes, driving above within reason) but most certainly not double the speed limit. If you are going to drive under the limit, do not drive in the fast lane. If you are going to speed, do not weave around people across multiple lanes. Acquire patience one millisecond at a time. Suggest other drivers move to the slower lane, not by attempting to touch the back of their cars with the front of yours, not by speeding up to them and slamming on the brakes, but by gradually coming closer to them at a higher rate of speed than they are going. Give it at least 5 seconds before you decide this isn’t working.

How about this? Plan ahead. See what’s happening more than one bumper ahead of you. Have several options before you are infuriated when the one idea you’ve got doesn’t go your way.

Construction is for your benefit. If the sign says the speed limit is reduced, STOP SPEEDING! People’s lives are at stake!!!

Honestly? You need to text right now? Are you texting “I am risking everyone’s life around me. Cool!”

NOTE: The vast majority of people driving can NOT multitask. If you are talking on your phone, you are driving at a reduced speed and now impeding traffic, not to mention driving distracted.

If you notice lots of cars flying past you on either side of you, move over. You’re in the wrong lane!

Let me apologize for any inconsiderate moves I’ve made on the roadways. I’m sure I have a thing or two to learn. I simply want to say to a good number of people out there: OH MY GOSH! GET OFF THE ROAD! BE CONSIDERATE! BE SAFE! BE SMART! Life matters!
